About ISMCPI
As the world becomes increasingly more complex, there is a greater need for security and crime prevention practitioners to be better trained, highly competent, and up-to-date with the latest information and techniques. Today's professionals require extensive knowledge in a number of disciplines and must be able to handle a variety of complex predicaments. They need to be capable of meeting the demands of employers, government and the public and must be fully accountable. The International Crime Prevention and Security Management Institute was established as a private initiative with these things in mind.
Aim of the Institute
The International Security Management and Crime Prevention Institute was founded in 1995 and is a private institute dedicated to the development of security management and crime prevention professionals. It is an initiative of Amtac Professional Services Pty. Ltd., an independent, professional practice consulting in the areas of security and crime prevention.
Objectives of ISMCPI
The objectives of the International Security Management and Crime Prevention Institute are:
- to promote and facilitate professional development and education in the fields of security management and crime prevention;
- to promote recognition of the roles and contribution of the many disciplines involved in security and crime prevention; and
- to promote and facilitate research into security and crime prevention.
Consistently high standards
To fulfil its objectives, ISMCPI maintains the highest standards in its professional development programs and supports the work of like minded industry and professional associations. ISMCPI offers a range of professional development opportunities through publicly offered and "in-house" programs.
Since its inception, ISMCPI has strived to provide high quality professional development conferences, seminars, workshops and training courses that meet the needs of security and crime prevention practitioners from all parts of the globe. Whilst ISMCPI is based just south of Brisbane, in Australia, ISMCPI has facilitated many professional development programs in other parts of the world, including New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Chile, Canada, and the USA. In 2004, ISMCPI incorporated in Canada to better serve its Canadian clients and now has associates in Calgary (Alberta), Ottawa (Ontario) and Regina (Saskatchewan).
In 2001 and 2004, ISMCPI came together with the International CPTED Association and the Queensland Police Service to host the International CPTED Conference in Brisbane, Australia. These were unique "public / private partnerships" that ensured the success of both events and ISMCPI continues to explore innovative strategies to deliver new opportunities for professional development in the areas of crime prevention and security management.
ISMCPI programs have been attended by literally thousand of attendees and participants from over 50 countries, and continue to be a benchmark by which many other professional development programs are judged.
